Wiggle Room

Oh... Check out this cute little wiggle dress I picked up on Monday.

It has a matching double-breasted bolero.

I have spent the last 5 days trying every imaginable magic potion in Ye Olde Workshoppe to get an odd stain off the left ass cheek. The repeated treatments (of paint stripper!) are working and it should be in the window by next week.

More Great Stuff you may Have Missed.

May '08 was my best month ever, yay! Here's just a teeny sampling of the stuff flying out the doors at Five and DIamond Vintage...

This customer couldn't decide between this dress Batik Print Cotton Party Dress
..and this dress:Cotton Day Dress, nice planning
...So she bought both.

I thought I priced these suede disco platforms high enough that they'd hang around for awhile: SUede Disco Platforms
Nope. They lasted exactly 2 hours.
Disco girl also bought the crazy owl skirt (Do not attempt to adjust your monitor--) Crazy ass Owl skirt
and this 1930s Housedress, which complimented her tattoos beautifully.

30s House Dress

This next dress is one of my favorite all-time dresses; I only owned it a few days, and sadly it didn't fit me :( --but it was still hard to let go. It looks fabulous on Martina!

Finally, in case you're grumpy that I only post pictures of stuff that's already sold, here's an amazing dress that Martina modeled for me but did not buy.

Let's Talk About Sex and the City

SATC movie opens today, whoopdeedoo. I'll probably catch it in a couple of years when it shows up on the WE channel or something.
Never had HBO, and the current TBS reruns really just don't cut it since they dub in phrases like "sex-Buddy" for "Fuck-Buddy".

I did have fun a couple years ago when Alana put me up to dressing as Sarah Jessica Parker for some Oscar party/filmFest-benefit shindig. Good costuming is all in the details. The final touches of this ensemble were the $695 price tag on the shoes and the big Milk-Dud mole on my chin.

Brimfield Booty- 2 ends of the Style Spectrum

The shop is bursting with lots of fresh merch.
Here's just a couple of things I picked up at Brimfield last week.

It's hard to find 60s shirt-dresses without waist seams:
...and Amber already snatched this one up.

This ensemble satisfied my current Black-and-white obsession:
The jiffy-pop hat and polka-dot party dress were purchased ten miles apart, but seem to be made for each other.
With the exception of the crocs, I think this is very Sarah-Jessica-Parker-in-Paris, no?

Yes, I sell Men's Stuff

It's rare that someone can walk into my shop, ask for something very specific, and actually get it in their size.
But that's exactly what happened the other day, when Frank came in looking for a white, shawl-collared dinner jacket.

Needless to say - we were both delighted.

advertising

Last week I made a couple dozen boxes of Five and Diamond matches, using an old 1938 catalog, full matchboxes (of course), and some rubber stamps I got out of the church dumpster last week.   Matches are supposed to be advertising giveaways, but these things sold like hotcakes all weekend at $1 each. Hudson ephemera, and each is one-of-a-kind. Get'm while they last. When they run out I'm going to make pocket sewing kits.
